If been the mistress of the President is an easy task, trust me, Side chicks zone would have been over populated. The chances of happily ever after is 10%. Lucky for both, they love each other and will do what it takes to be together. In this episode, Olivia will get a taste of the consequences of been the American mistress and who knows what other obstacles is in store for both this season.
Quinn decides to recruit Marcus Walker (played by Cornelius Smith Jr.), the disgraced politician framed by the Mayor (his opponent) for the murder of his wife who Marcus was having an affair with. Quinn offers him a job as the press secretary for OPA to do damage control and keep their clients. He bluntly refused since the scandal won't go away and it's only a matter of time OPA shuts down for business.
The media starts digging into Olivia's past. Her childhood, her parents, academic background, her business and personal relationships. This didn't sit well with Fitz and out of anger, he fires Abby. Olivia convinces him that firing her is not a smart move and will draw negative publicity. Olivia spots a paparazzi taking her pictures in the apartment next building and immediately closes her blinds, Huck gives her burner phones and also sweeps her apartment for bugs.
Attending her first meeting, the women of the senate propose to impeach Fitz with Mellie's approval. Knowing that it would look vindictive on her part, Mellie refuses. Cyrus tells her it's best for her political career. If Fitz gets impeached, Susan Rose will take over paving the easy way for her to be the next president.
Marcus eventually agrees to work for OPA. Elizabeth approaches the party trying to convince them not to investigate the administration as a result of the scandal. Fitz meets with party and offers a deal in exchange of no investigation but they already have their own demands, one of them includes abolishing the Brandon Bill.
Fitz finally makes a bold move by showing up in Olivia's apartment with paparazzi waiting outside and takes her out to dinner. Mellie approves the proposal to impeach Fitz. Meanwhile, Jake flies to Paris to find out who is working for Rowan to try and resurrect B-613. We meet Jake's ex-wife, Elise (played by Mia Maestro).
Thoughts
I'm glad Fitz has decided to stand by Olivia- for better or worse,
'I'm President of the United States, we work for the American people. In my office, it's not about doing the smart thing, it's about doing the right thing.'
It's nice to see Huck smile and see her get along with Quinn. It's going to be hard getting use to Marcus because he reminds me of Harrison (RIP).
Best Line
Marcus: So, who's going to tell Olivia that I work here.
Huck: I will. I'm damaged. She doesn't like to yell at me.
