Scandal Season 5 Episode 6 "Get Out of Jail, Free"

The investigation begins and everyone is unsettled because the outcome may lead to impeachment of the President of the United States. Sally however, is one of the few that's just waiting for everything to crumble around Fitz and Olivia.

Mellie is first to testify in front of the committee. They stick to the questions she agreed to answer; she denies she had no knowledge of the affair before Olivia's announcement. Everything is going smoothly for Mellie until they reveal the affidavit signed by Jean Locke, a staff that was accused of having an affair with the President. It confirms that Mellie compensated her for agreeing to the affair to save Olivia, which means she lied under oath and could ruin her political career.

Now a game changer, Fitz agrees with his lawyer and Cyrus not to testify and marry Olivia to claim spousal privilege and avoid testifying in front of the committee. Up next to testify, Quinn, Abby and Huck. They question them on their involvement with Jean Locke to which they denied despite the evidence.

Meanwhile, Rowan receives an unexpected visitor in prison, Jake's ex, Elise. She has arranged to get him out of the country with cash and a fake passport. Rowan arranges to escape from prison with the help of a guard. Unknown to him, Elise was hired by the people running Lazarus One, she bribes the guard to kill him. He manages to escape death but is taken to the infirmary. Rowan calls Olivia asking for help, she hangs up. He calls Quinn but she refuses also.

Olivia meets with Rowan to warn him to stay away from her friends. He wants to make a deal with her. If she gets him out, he will stop the investigation and Fitz's impeachment. She takes it to Mellie to  consider the option. When she realizes that their way out is Rowan, she refuses because he blackmailed into revealing the names of the Juror. Olivia reveals to Mellie that Rowan is her father that was once the head of a secret organization within the government and he's also responsible for the death of her son.

Mellie finally signs the divorce papers but the meeting didn't end well as they play the blame game for the current situation. Fitz blames Mellie for agreeing to the investigation and Mellie blames him for losing everything because her life revolves around him; her career, her dignity, marriage and the death of their son.

Susan Ross plans to resign to as the vice-president.Left with no other option, she decides to marry Fitz in a very low-key ceremony. As they wait for the ceremony to start, Olivia receives a phone call from Mellie. Rowan is free along with Tom (the President's former bodyguard), He sends a package to the senators in the committee with contains their dirty secrets. They announce that they're no longer investigating the administration. Mellie tells Olivia she owes her now and she's going to make her President.

Thoughts

Oh Olivia, what have you done! You make a deal with the devil, you have no idea what you've unleashed. Fitz better watch his back because if I was in Rowan's shoes, I'll target Fitz just to hurt Olivia. Something tells me Mama Pope will appear soon, a family reunion worth watching.

I'm starting to like this side of Mellie. You put your anger into something positive like making Olivia your 'bitch.' Mellie may not have loved Fitz according to some fans but they were in a business relationship, it's not her fault Fitz changed the rules and fell in love. I'm going to have to put the #Olitz poster aside because I'm on #teammellie now.
