American Horror Story: Hotel Season 5 Episode 1 'Checking In'

American Horror Story is probably one of the most anticipated shows of 2015. Why? because this season will take place in an hotel and also features a famous music artist playing the lead role; Lady Gaga. This season features returning cast from the previous season and new set of faces.



Episode 1 'Checking In.'

The episode begins with two Swedish tourists arriving at Hotel Cortez. They approach Iris (played by Kathy Bates) at the front desk. They demand their money back to lounge into another hotel due to a creepy feeling they felt when they walked in. Iris tells them they have a no refund policy so they agree to stay one night.

Iris takes them to their room. One of them asks her for the WIFI password but informs her there's no connection even on cell phones except the telephone in the room. They perceive a horrible smell coming from the mattress, they cut through only to be attacked by a disfigured creature. Iris apologizes and moves them to room 64, which they never rent out. One of them falls asleep. She wakes up  to look for her friend in the bathroom, only to find her been eaten by ghostly children.

The next scene introduces us to John Lowe (played by Wes Bentley). He received an anonymous phone call from a killer who informs him he plans to kill again in Hotel Cortez, room 64. Meanwhile a new guest arrive at the hotel, Gabriel (played by Max Greenfield). Iris hands him the key to room 64 and he's violently raped by an addiction demon. Sally ( played by Sarah Paulson) asks him to tell her that he loves her before he dies.

The next scene introduces us to  Elizabeth (played Lady Gaga) and Donovan (played Matt Bomer) who are in a relationship in which they seduce a couple, lure them to the hotel, have sex with them before they silt their throat and drink their blood.

Meanwhile Detective Lowe is having dinner with his daughter in the restaurant when he receives a text from his wife which contains an address. The location leads him to two dead bodies from the killer. The scene also gives us a back story of Lowe who lost his son, Holden, five years ago at the park and his wife resenting him for it.

Will Drake (played by Cheyenne Jackson), the new owner arrives with his son Lachlan (played by Lyric Lennon). Elizabeth introduces herself to Will and takes Lachlan to a hidden room where the children eat candy and play video games, including Holden Lowe.

Flashback to 1994, Iris who is Donovan's mother follows Sally and Donovan who are heroine addicts and lovers to Hotel Cortez. Donovan dies from a drug overdose and during her grieving moment, Iris pushes Sally off the building. She comes back and finds her dead son in the arms of Elizabeth who would later turn him into a vampire. Lowe in other to protect his family, moves to room 64 in the Hotel Cortez.



Thoughts
This season looks like it's going to be a bloody one, the last I felt a shiver when watching this show is back in Asylum. It may be too early to judge but loving Lady Gaga's performance so far. The story so far is intriguing and as usual, expect more murder. Lowe checking into room 64 is terrifying. No one has ever checked out of that room based on the previous room guests.
What will happen to the other Swedish tourist now that the her friend's throat was silt by Elizabeth when she was trying to escape?
