House of Cards: What's Next For Frank Underwood?
House of Cards premiere is hours away and I'm glad to see my favourite TV President, Frank Underwood back!(can't trust president Fitz with my life if he can risk innocent lives for a woman, and at least I will be rewarded for been loyal to Frank). After the manipulation, scheming and even murder he's now the most powerful man in the world of TV.
I admire Frank but despise his methods- that been pushing reporter Zoe Barnes in front of a train (R.I.P) but I respect Frank that he aimed for his goal no matter the causalities on the way. House of Cards has taught me one thing, politicians portrayed by the media is one thing, you don't know what the game is about until you're a member. You have to get your hands dirty to get the job done but you can't help to think your actions will have consequences and may be the instrument to your downfall. Now the question is, will Frank get away with everything he did? For those who haven't watched it or seem to have forgotten, let me give you a BRIEF summary.
Frank's ambition for power started when he helped Garrett Walker, get elected as the President of the United States. Both agreed that Frank will leave the position of House Majority Whip for the position Secretary of State if elected. He learnt from Chief of Staff, Linda Vasquez (who helped to get the job) that he's been passed over and that Garrett wants him in congress.
"If you don't give me I will take it by force, ' is perhaps the motto for Frank. His first puppet was drug addict bad boy congressman Peter Russo and also reporter Zoe Barnes (who he was having an affair with). Unknown to both, helped Frank manipulate Garett decision to pick Senator Catherine Durant who is Frank's choice instead of Senator Michael Kern who he got passed over for. Zoe published a damaging story of Kern's past and Russo seek out an old friend of Kern to confirm the story.
Russo also helped Frank to end the teacher's strike and passing the education bill, slowly gaining Garrett's trust. Russo bit the fingers that fed him and was booted off- Frank ACCIDENTLY killed him. Zoe who later realized what Frank was capable also planned to blow the whistle on him when he ACCIDENTLY pushed her in front of a train.
His wife Claire Underwood, also had her own skeletons, cheating on Frank with her ex which will later been used against by his political opponents later in the series.
Frank was later elected as the Vice-president (a heartbeat away) but he had one enemy, Raymond Tusk who has a hug influence on Garrett. Frank refused to be control by him, both politically attacked each other, Frank going after Raymond's Businesses and Raymond going after his friends and family.
Season 2 also revealed that Claire was raped by a prominent general and had an abortion. The Department of Justice started investigating the relationship between Raymond, Feng a wanted criminal, and the White House. If the rumours are true, Garrett could be impeached. By the time Garrett found out about Frank, it was already too late, Frank was already steps ahead when he made a deal with Raymond who confessed the President's involvement with him, leaving Garrett no choice but to resign. Automatically, Frank is elected into office.
So what does fate hold for Frank in season 3? New enemies that's for sure, you don't have that kind of power and expect to make friends along the way, let's wait and see how he will survive the White House #excitedmuch.
