Countdown: Favourite TV Shows of 2016

10. This is Us

The series follows the lives of the Pearson Family. Every episode tells the stories of the past and Present characters. Praised as one of the breakout shows in 2016, this season will contain 18 episodes.

9. Stranger Things

If you're looking for Strange and freaky, then this show is for you. Set in the 80s in a fictional town, Stranger things follows the disappearance of a young boy and the appearance of a telekinetic girl who helps his friends in their search, while the boy's older brother, his mother, and the town police chief start their own investigation.

8. The Catch

The Catch is a crime drama that follows Alice Vaughan who runs a private investigation firm. Her top pirority this season was to capture a top con artist while planning for her wedding. Her fiance, Benjamin Jones, disappeared with her money. A series of investigation revealed that Ben is the con artist she has been trying to catch for months. It was a big score for Ben and his partners but it became complicated when he fell in love with Alice. In the season finale, he confessed to a crime Alice was accused of and was arrested. I definitely see these two teaming up in future. It's not a normal plot you see these days and it also reminds me of the British show, 'Hustle.'

7. Narcos

Ever since he started his illegal business, one of Pablo Escobar's ambitions is to be one of the richest man in the world, and he achieved it earning him the title, 'the king of cocaine.' He soon learnt that with that kind of power creates enemies and this year's season of Narcos, Pablo's world came crashing down. his actions during his reign not only made his capture a number one pirority with the FBI, but also from other cartels.

6. How to get Away with Murder

If there's one thing i've learnt from the three years of watching the show; no one is safe. They proved my theory when we discovered who was under the sheet after eight weeks of sepculation. It turned out to be our 'Puppy dog face' and Annalise's favourite student, Wes Gibbins. I admire shows who take the risk of killing off their characters and bounce back from it. I love this season becasue of the drastic changes in Annalise Keating's life. Everything seems to be crumbling down around her; her love life, her career, the rejection of her minions aka Keating 5, now the murder the wes and her been the prime suspect. Perhaps Annalise's luck has finally run out or will she once again escape the law.

5. The Crown

This biopic drama had everyone talking for weeks! The show focuses on the events of the life of reigning Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding in 1947 to the present day. Netflix have confirmed that the show will contain 60 episodes so we still have 50 episodes to look forward to. While people assume been born into royalty is a gift, these characters view this differently.
First her, Uncle, King Edward abdicated the throne to be with the love of his life after the church rejected their union because she has been divorced three times. This decision forced her father, (previously Albert) to be King George VI. I n 1952, six years on the throne, King George died and Elizabeth Proclaimed Queen. The first season reveals the early reign and Elizabeth and the royal drama that comes with it; as if the drama wasn't scandalous enough, who knows what secrets it will reveal in the upcoming seasons. For those who lack the patience, i have just four words for you, 'Google is your answer.'

4. The Walking Dead

It's been a good year for The Walking Dead and in the words of Negan 'We're just getting started.' I've never been this excited to watch this season since the introduction of The Governor, and i thought the Governor was evil. well i got the shock of my life when the show's latest villian, Negan, bashed the skull of Glen and Abraham (RIP) till there was nothing left but brain matter on the floor. For the first time since i started watching the show, I saw fear in Rick's eyes, he couldn't protect Glenn and Abraham so he gave up the will to fight in other to protect the rest of the group.
Unfortunately for him, Negan keeps rubbing his submission to his face. So for the rest of their lives, they will give half of their supplies to Negan every week. Let's see how long Rick will endure these new changes.

3. Luke Cage

It's not easy to be a hero. Tto have all that kind of responsibility is a big headache and when there's no one else to fill the shoes, you have to step up. Luke Cage never wanted to be Harlem's city's savior, he was just fine been a cleaner at Pop's barbershop by day and bus boy at Harlem's paradise nightclub by night. Unfortunately trouble came looking for him when he decided to help Pop save a man from Harlem's Kingpin, Cornell Stokes aka Çottonmouth.' This leads to series of unfortunate events and he decides to put his 'strong abilities,' earning him the name 'Power Man.' What fascinated me about the show is not only their taste of music but the issue of race and politics which sadly has become a global incurable disease.

2. DareDevil

Just when i made the decision to dump daredevil after season one, they got me all pumped up and looking forward to season three. Who could have thought the savior of the show will be Frank Castle aka The Punisher. The season continues after Frisk's incarceration. With on one in charge, various gangs attempt to take control of hell's kitchen but were murdered by a new vigilante that poses a threat in Hell's Kitchen. Jon Bernthal's portrayal of the Punisher was so mind blowing that they had to give him his own stand alone series.

1. Wentworth

Been going round in circles for days, looking for the perfect words to describe this show but i don't think such words exists yet. Every year, these writers give us an amazing plot to make up for the torture of waiting for the next season and this year was just off the charts! Despite the gut wrenching finale which i don't think i will ever watch again, this season was all about revenge, power and love. If you've not watched it then i don't know what you're waiting for!
