The episode opens with flashback of Elizabeth in 1926, heading over to the murder house (Back in season one). She meets up with Dr. Charles Montgomery (Matt Ross) to perform an illegal abortion for her three weeks old pregnancy. Together with his nurse, they remove the baby from her womb then all of a sudden the baby who is suppose to be dead attacks and kills the nurse. When she wakes up, the doctor informs her she had a baby boy and hands him over.
Back at the hotel, John wakes up and finds Holden standing next to the bed. Holden leads him into the sleeping chamber where he sees the sleeping pods and his wife, Alex sleeping next to Holden, he faints. Panicked, Alex seeks Liz to help her hide the pods. John wakes up in room and sees Alex sitting next to him. He claims she was sleeping next to Holden in a room but she insists he was hallucinating. By the time he goes back to the room, it's empty.
Liz and Tristan begin their discreet love affair and agree to reveal it to Elizabeth in due time. Elizabeth opens the mysterious room 33 and it is discovered that it's a her child, Bartholomew, that occupies the room. She says goodbye to him because she's going on a trip with Will.
Absent from the hotel, Ramona, Iris, Donovan takes advantage of the moment to get their revenge. Ramona goes to the basement to kill the children but finds it empty. With no luck of finding them, she heads to room 33 but the child attacks her and escapes from the room.
Donovan goes to the penthouse and finds Agnetha and Vendela, the two tourists murdered roaming the hotel looking for a way to leave. Donovan tells them they're trapped and instead of trying to leave, they should find a purpose at the hotel after death. Liz opens up to Ramona about his relationship with Tristan, she warns of the disastrous consequence if she find outs and tells her to run before it's too late.
Agnetha and Vandela kills one of the guests but aren't satisfied. Alex tells them to taunt John to insanity. Convinced that he's insane, he checks out and picks Scarlett on his way home. Unknown to him, Bartholomew had sneaked into his briefcase and followed him home. He manages to shoot him before he attacked. Alex sees the child when she stops by the house to check on John, she takes him back to his room at the hotel and treats his wounds.
Meanwhile, Liz sums up the courage and reveals his relationship with Tristan to Elizabeth. She asks for her blessing for them to be together but instead she kills Tristan.
Thoughts
I think most fans agree that there are more erotic scenes this season unlike the previous seasons, even murder, because at least there's one murder in every episode. Elizabeth only cares about Elizabeth. Her action this episode is the exact thing she did to Ramona, and very soon she'll have no ally.
Angela Bassett should have more screen time this season, I've only seen her in two episodes and at least two scenes.
Will John do whatever it takes to uncover the truth even though he was disgraced out of the police force and he thinks he's insane?
Is there a connection between March an Elizabeth? Is the child in room 33 theirs?
