One thing I learned from Orange is The New Black is that the only way to enjoy a TV show is to binge watch. Which was why I decided to wait till the mid-season finale to watch The Originals and I must say they've improved unlike the previous season. A quick summary to reveal important details.
I love the Mikaelson brothers in their Vengeful mode. Together with Hayley, Cami and Marcel, they killed Francesca's Minions and recovered the moonlight rings forged in Klaus' blood. After that, Elijah grants Hayley's wish; the pleasure of killing Francesca. Just when they thought their troubles were over, little did they know Francesca is a small fish compare to what they're up against; their parents are back from the dead with one mission- Esther wants to give her children a chance of a mortal life eradicating the existence of vampires and Mikael who is also a vampire hunter wants to hunt down and kill his step son Klaus. Finn and Kol died in 'The Vampire Diaries" and are now resurrected in another human form. Meanwhile Davina has been busy the past few months, looking for a way to kill Klaus without her friends dying with him and Mikael patiently waiting for the opportunity to be free from Davina in other to complete his mission.
Family Drama
Klaus seeks out the witch making moonlight rings for werewolves and discovers the culprit is in fact his mother living in the body of a sixteen year old girl and Finn close to her who goes by the name Vincent and Kol who is now Kaleb, together planning against the vampires of the quarter. Esther invites her sons for dinner trying to make amends but didn't turn out well. It was then Klaus and Elijah discovers that if they killed Esther she'll occupy the body of another. Elijah sort out the witch that helped Marcel who later became the Vassel for Esther.
Date went wrong
Kol/ Kaleb invites Davina for a date to know what she's hiding in the attic but is attacked by werewolves under Esther's orders. the attack becomes interesting when Mikael who is called by Davina shows up and kicked some ass. Unfortunately for Davina she lost the bracelet that binds her to Mikael who almost killed her but saved by Elijah. Kol/ Kaleb didn't reveal his father's return to Esther.
Klaus and Mikael
Davina hides with Mikael in her family cabin away from Klaus. Davina calls Kol/Kaleb for help and he goes to cabin in other to retrieve the white oak stake for his mother. Kol/Kaleb helps Mikael to escape from Davina's spell in time to face Klaus who is also looking for him. They fought in which Klaus won but decided not to kill him due to Cami's advise. Unfortunately for Cami, Mikael Kidnaps her in other to lure Klaus and kill him but Marcel and Hayley came just in time to save Klaus.
Davina and Kol/ Kaleb
One thing these two have in common is Klaus. Davina wants to kill him and Kol/Kaleb wants to create a new dagger that can be used against Klaus since he's a hybrid.
Esther and Elijah
Esther kidnaps Elijah and forced him to relive the horror of what he did to Tatia, Amara's doppelganger (portrayed by Nina Dobrev) to manipulate him to choose been a mortal in other to beg her to make him mortal. In an attempt to rescue Elijah, Klaus meets his father resurrected by his mother but Klaus ends up killing him to protect his daughter.
Cami and Finn/Vincent
Cami discovers that Vincent her faculty advisor is actually Finn and teamed up with Marcel and Hayley to take him down. The plan was successful, Hayley and Marcel kidnap Finn/Vincent and Kol/Kaleb and takes them to Klaus and Elijah. Klaus gives them two options- "Join me to defeat my mother or die". Obviously Kol/Kaleb joined team Klaus. Rebecca seeks out Elijah and Klaus' help because Esther found her. Cami discovers Esther has made her a vassel for Rebekah to jump into. Klaus and Hayley goes to see Rebekah and their daughter and also devise a plan to stop Esther.
The Outcome
Luckily for Cami, Kol/Kaleb was able to stop the spell but not for Rebekah because she's trapped in another body. Elijah and Hayley finally "get it on". Esther is in transformation and is given a choice by Klaus- "die or become a vampire", and Davina and Kol/Kaleb share a kiss.
